TRANSPORT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

The Professional Bachelor study programme "Transport Systems Engineering" trains and educates transport systems engineers able to solve a wide range of complex, technology-intensive issues related to:
- the organization of technological processes for cargo handling at transport terminals;
- introduction of information technologies to transport and their application;
- optimization, planning and forecasting of transport systems;
- maintenance and repair of all kinds of vehicles and cargo lifting and transportation mechanisms;
- design and manufacturing of new machines and mechanisms.
Training of transport systems engineers according to the programme "Transport Systems Engineering" is carried out in compliance with the requirements of profession standard PS 0253.
The aim of the Bachelor study programme is to provide professional education in transport systems engineering to promote the renovation and maintenance of transport infrastructure by educating and training the required number of qualified specialists as well as by carrying out the required scientific research.
In the process of studies, students have to acquire knowledge and skills helping to provide the development of transport institutions on an international level, plan and manage work in accordance with the organization's goals in compliance with Latvian and international normative acts.
Upon the graduation a student gets a professional Bachelor's degree in transport systems engineering that provides the opportunity to enter professional or academic Master Degree Study programmes.
Career Options
A transport systems engineer trained at the study programme "Transport Systems Engineering" can work in transport companies and organizations, research and education institutions and other national economic institutions specializing in logistic and technical support, development and maintenance of effective transport technological systems and technologies related to cargo and passenger transportation.
A transport systems engineer managing a small or medium-sized company is responsible for ensuring the compliance with technical and organizational processes, labour safety and labour protection regulations and the Labour Law.
